THE DADAISM

From my research, Dada art movement was between 1916 to 1923 occurred in France, Germany and Switzerland, a school of art. Dada is an anarchist art movement, which tried to abolish the traditional culture and aesthetic forms found in the real reality. Dada by a group of young artists and anti-war leaders, they learn through the anti-US protests in the works and expressing their despair of bourgeois values and the First World War.
Many works about dadaism are
subversive.

For example,
Max Ernst( 1891—1976),his work is typical.
His use of collage, the friction method, rubbing method and the scratch method, committed to creating a diverse, colorful virtual world.

My work

Before

Cubism

Cubism is a history of Western modern art movements and genres. It pursue a kind of geometry-beauty and the combination of form and beauty. It uses the straight line and the curve to be the contour, the block stacking and staggered taste replace the traditional light and dark, light, air, gas. These techniques obviously not rely on visual experience and perceptual knowledge, and the main reason as to rely on, ideas and thinking.

Angles

Vertical Angle

These suggest different links of power relationships between the represented person(s) or participants and the viewer. • High angle – the viewer is looking down on the represented person, putting the viewer in a more powerful position • Low angle – the viewer looks up to the represented person, putting the viewer in a less powerful position • Eye level – the point of view is one of equality with no power difference involved (Kress & van Leeuwen 1996.)

Horizontal angles

• frontal angle – suggests viewer involvement with the person or objects in the image • oblique angle – suggest viewer detachment with the persons or objects in the image (Kress & van Leeuwen 1996)

My work

I found a woman face, and use the photoshop to eliminate her eyes.
I use this symbol to express the ""BLIND" because there's no eye on her face. She doesn't have eyes so she couldn't see anything.

I made two squares to express the "ABSOLUTE". Black and white are two opposite colors. They are the extreme colors as well. I just put them together so that they can express the absolute.

Symbolism

Symbolism originated in France, and was part of a 19th-century movement in which art became infused with mysticism.

What is Symbolism?
Express some ideas and things, symbols or objects is called "symbolic". It can be a logo, or a item.

season------impressionism

This is the winter view in my eyes.I used the brush and adjusted the color to white and the opacity20%. My hometown is in north east China. Winter is very very cold each year. There's white all the winter in my memory. After snowing, the whole city become clean and silent. So I make the picture much more white.

Impressionism

Sunday Afternoon on the Island of the Grand-Jatte

Actually this is the first time to learn about impressionism.
This painting I searched from the internet. I know that before because there's a similar photo so that they're famous. This painting is about a sunny Sunday.People are sitting, playing or eating around the lake. The main character is a lady who is holding up an umbrella and a guy laying on the grass. Strong color is easy to reflect the season。 Maybe that's the point of impressionism.
"Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement that began as a loose association of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence in the 1870s and 1880s. The name of the movement is derived from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant), which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satiric review published in Le Charivari."

White Rabbit

“The White Rabbit Collection is one of the world’s largest and most significant collections of contemporary Chinese art. Founded by Kerr and Judith Neilson, it focuses on works produced after 2000"
This part is from the "White Rabbit" website. I have no idea about this gallery before today. When I browsing the website I found many Chinese elements. Actually it's just about Chinese culture.
I found many young artists here, and a guy called Chili caught my attention. "His Red Star Motel (2009) is a series of snapshot scenes set in the identically furnished rooms of a cheap Beijing motel and acted out by the artist’s friends." That's from his BIO. In his work, he used hyperbolic way to describe many crazy things which happened Red Star Motel.
Then I checked his website, there are so many mystery elements. He still keeps using performers to show his idea.

There's still many other artist in the gallery, I'd like to go there so day.

The artwork

The artworkwas made by Chinese artist Xu Beihong.Xu Beihong (1895-1953) was born in Yixing County, Jiangsu Province, on July 19, 1895. At age 9, he started to learn Chinese painting.

I like this image because I feel the horses are really running. And I like
Chinese Painting very much. This one shows two horses running. It makes audience feel that the horse are really running.
Xu Beihong is good at drawing horse.Through Xu Beihong's efforts, new audiences & art museums abroad became familiar with Chinese art; as well, he had worked hard to advance Chinese painting within China.
